Summer is well and truly here, and here at Wrapmaster® Home, we’re thinking about how we can make our summer cookouts an event to remember!
We’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite foodie days from the month, to give you some inspiration for ways to celebrate the longer, warmer days – and make your cookout a success!
Caesar Salad Day
As well as being Independence Day, did you know that the 4th of July also marks national Caesar salad day!
Fun fact – 2024 marks Caesar Salad’s 100th birthday!
Made with crisp Romaine lettuce, and its delicious dressing, Caesar salad is just what you need on the sides table this year!
National Macaroni Day
Not only do we have a national Mac ‘N’ Cheese Day on July 14th, but we also have a national Macaroni Day!
As such a versatile ingredient, why not make a cold pasta salad to accompany your cookout? It’s a tasty way to use up some veggies!
National Hot Dog Day
A cookout wouldn’t be complete with hot dogs, and did you know here in the U.S, we have a whole day dedicated to them?
If you’re a keen home cook, why not have a go at making them from scratch? Popular sausage flavors like apple or sage and onion never go out of style.
You could even try adding herbs like fennel, or a hint of spice with Chorizo, to your mix. To really make the flavors pop, marinate your hot dog filling overnight. Just cover with plastic wrap and place in the fridge until it’s time to fire up the grill!
National Daiquiri Day
Why not give your summer drinks a refresh and celebrate the deliciousness of a daiquiri!
The traditional cocktail is made using lime juice, but you could try strawberry, pineapple, coconut, raspberry or even mango to take advantage of fresh summer produce!
On a really hot day – why not give them a frozen twist?
National Ice Cream Month
The height of summer marks the peak of ice-cold snacks, and with July comes National Ice Cream Month!
If you’re hosting this summer, why not serve up an ice cream sundae for a dessert that’s sure to be a showstopper!
You can make use of fresh fruit and berries, or for a real treat – brownie bites and chocolate.
National Milk Chocolate Day
Melted chocolate on a s’more is a right of passage for cookouts, but why not mix up your desserts this year?
We love grilled bananas filled with melted chocolate! Give it a go.
1. Keeping the skin on, slice your banana in half lengthways, making sure to not cut fully through. (You can place your banana on two wooden chopsticks before cutting to help)
2. Add your milk chocolate to the middle of the banana, making sure it’s evenly coated.
3. Close the banana as best you can and cover with aluminum foil.
4. Place each wrapped up banana on a BBQ or grill and cook until the banana is soft. This should only take a couple of minutes.
5. Wait to cool slightly, and then enjoy!
Surely this counts as one of your five-a-day? Right?!
National Cheesecake Day
While July rounds up, the foodie adventures continue, with National Cheesecake Day!
We love a classic New York Cheesecake, topped with cream and berries. Let us know what your favorite flavour us by tagging us on socials with your creations @Wrapmasterhome
